The business is investing heavily in modernising its engineering function and is looking for an experienced Software Team Lead to help drive that transformation.

This isn't about maintaining what's already there. It's about building what comes next.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll lead multiple software teams while remaining technically involved.

You'll work closely with engineers to improve software delivery, modernise development practices, mentor the team and raise engineering standards across the business.

You'll inherit a mix of mature legacy products alongside modern software platforms, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine impact on how software is designed, developed and delivered.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead multiple software engineering teams across embedded, application and cloud environments
• Modernise development tools, engineering workflows and software delivery practices
• Improve engineering processes, accountability and team collaboration
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical leadership across software projects
• Mentor engineers and support their technical development
• Work closely with leadership to prioritise engineering initiatives
• Remove technical roadblocks and improve delivery outcomes
• Introduce modern software engineering practices, including cloud-based tooling and AI-assisted development where it improves productivity
• Help establish scalable engineering standards across the business

What You'll Be Working On

You'll be working across a diverse software environment, including:

• Embedded C and firmware development
• Modern C++ desktop applications
• Linux and Windows environments
• Video recording and display software
• Cloud-based applications built with C# and JavaScript
• Asset management, monitoring and reporting platforms

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

• Strong commercial experience with both C++ and C
• Experience leading or mentoring software engineering teams
• Hands-on technical leadership rather than purely people management
• Experience working across Windows and Linux environments
• The ability to review code, troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide engineers technically
• A proven track record of modernising engineering practices, improving development workflows or introducing better software development tools
• An interest in leveraging modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development, to improve engineering productivity and software delivery
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineers and senior stakeholders

• Embedded systems or IoT products
• Cloud-hosted software platforms
• CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
