The Opportunity
Our client is a global engineering and manufacturing business delivering advanced warehouse automation and material handling solutions across the world. With projects spanning automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyors, controls, robotics, and warehouse management technologies, they continue to invest heavily in the Australian market.
They are now looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead installation, commissioning, and project execution activities across major automation projects.
What You'll Be Doing
As Site Manager, you'll take ownership of day-to-day site operations and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest engineering standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading installation and commissioning activities against project schedules
- Coordinating mechanical, electrical, automation, and subcontractor teams on site
- Managing site safety, permits, compliance, and HSE requirements
- Overseeing installation quality, technical standards, and project specifications
- Resolving site-based engineering and construction issues
- Monitoring project progress, productivity, and key site KPIs
- Managing materials, logistics, shortages, and site resources
- Coordinating testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and system handover activities
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on site
- Managing site costs, labour utilisation, and subcontractor performance
- Maintaining project documentation including reports, checklists, and as-built records
- Mentoring and developing site personnel and junior team members
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or similar
- Proven experience managing industrial installation or automation projects
- Previous exposure to AS/RS, warehouse automation, intralogistics, conveyors, or material handling systems
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary site teams
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documentation
- Understanding of PLC-controlled systems (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley advantageous)
- Experience working alongside commissioning and controls teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure
- Commitment to safety, quality, and project delivery
- Willingness to travel when required
