Senior Cloud Engineer
Job Location: Melbourne, Victoria
You'll be designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS as a Senior Cloud Engineer. This is a hands-on role where you'll help shape cloud architecture, improve platform reliability, and drive security best practices across modern cloud environments.
You'll work closely with engineering teams to build secure, high-performing cloud platforms while championing Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevSecOps practices. If you're a highly skilled and proactive engineer who can balance technical depth with practical execution, this could be the role for you.
The Role
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Implement cloud architecture best practices to improve performance, resilience, and cost efficiency
- Manage and optimise AWS environments, including multi-account structures and governance frameworks
- Develop and enforce cloud security guardrails, policies, and compliance controls
- Conduct security assessments, threat modelling, and vulnerability analysis across cloud environments
- Implement risk mitigation strategies aligned with industry best practices and organisational standards
- Design and maintain secure, scalable cloud platforms that support modern distributed applications
- Collaborate with software and platform engineering teams to deliver reliable cloud solutions
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform
- Support DevSecOps practices to improve deployment speed, reliability, and security
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a related role
- Strong hands-on experience with core AWS services including EC2, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, RDS, and DynamoDB
- Experience designing and implementing AWS networking using Transit Gateway, VPN, VPC, and Route 53
- Experience managing AWS multi-account environments using AWS Organizations and Identity Center
- Strong understanding of cloud security services including IAM, SCP, WAF, Security Hub, Inspector, and GuardDuty
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI
- Good knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or Rust
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and improvement
