We're partnering with a well-funded engineering-driven technology company developing a connected mobility platform that combines hardware, cloud infrastructure, and financial services into a single ecosystem.

They're now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of a secure cloud platform that sits at the heart of their product. This is not a maintenance role. You'll be designing and building critical systems from the ground up, including fleet management, financing infrastructure, vehicle connectivity, and security services.

If you enjoy solving complex backend challenges, designing scalable architectures, and building systems that interact with real-world hardware, this opportunity offers significant technical ownership and impact.

What You'll Be Doing

Design, develop, and maintain the core fleet management platform and backend services
Build secure APIs, data models, and distributed services that support connected vehicles
Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, and security best practices across the platform
Work closely with embedded engineers to integrate cloud services with physical vehicle hardware
Develop and manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment environments
Establish engineering standards around testing, observability, reliability, and scalability
Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy
Troubleshoot, optimize, and harden systems as the platform grows

What We're Looking For

5+ years building and shipping production-grade backend systems
Strong experience with Go and/or TypeScript
Deep understanding of authentication, encryption, security, and applied cryptography
Experience designing scalable APIs and backend architectures
Strong cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP
Familiarity with containers, DevOps tooling, and CI/CD practices
Proven track record delivering secure, reliable, and maintainable software
Startup mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Able to work onsite in Alameda, CA
Full US working rights (no sponsorship available)

Nice to Have

IoT, telematics, or connected device experience
MQTT, WebSockets, or real-time data streaming
Secure device onboarding, key provisioning, or hardware identity management
Experience as an early-stage startup engineer
Interest in EVs, mobility, or connected products
