Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Join an experienced engineering team responsible for developing and optimising manufacturing processes for both new and existing products.

This is a hands-on role focused on New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, continuous improvement, and supporting high-precision manufacturing from development through to production.

Key Responsibilities:

▪️ Develop and optimise assembly processes for new and existing products.
▪️ Create, release, and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions and process specifications.
▪️ Develop and execute process validation plans for new manufacturing methods.
▪️ Establish and monitor SPC metrics to improve yield and identify process failures.
▪️ Drive Design for Manufacture (DFM) improvements with engineering and production teams.
▪️ Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and manufacturing cost.
▪️ Support transfer of manufacturing processes to overseas production facilities.
▪️ Train production operators and technicians on new processes and equipment.
▪️ Conduct production process audits and ensure compliance with OH&S requirements.

Required Skills:

▪️ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
▪️ Experience as a Process Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer within a high-technology manufacturing environment.
▪️ Strong understanding of mechanical assembly processes, manufacturing methods, and engineering tolerances.
▪️ Experience developing and validating manufacturing or assembly processes.
▪️ Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), process optimisation, and manufacturing quality systems.
▪️ Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and communication skills.

Highly Desirable:

▪️ 5+ years developing manufacturing processes or production equipment for electro-mechanical or precision mechanical assemblies.
▪️ Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM), FMEA, and reliability engineering.
▪️ Knowledge of precision assembly materials including adhesives, metals, and ceramics.
▪️ Experience with failure analysis techniques such as cross-sectioning, microscopy, tensile/shear testing, SEM, or XRD.
▪️ Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer projects.
