Embedded Software Engineer (6–9 Month Contract)
Melbourne | Hybrid | 6–9 Month Contract
We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join an established engineering team working on complex, safety-critical embedded systems.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working close to the hardware, solving challenging engineering problems, and taking ownership from requirements through to implementation and verification.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop low-level embedded software using modern C++
- Work across firmware, RTOS, device drivers and hardware interfaces
- Contribute to software architecture, design and implementation
- Develop unit and integration tests and support automated verification
- Work through the full software development lifecycle
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and technical leads
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver with minimal supervision
What We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial experience in Embedded Software Development
- Strong C++, ideally C++17 or newer
- Hands-on experience with STM32, NXP or ARM-based platforms
- Experience with bare-metal, firmware, RTOS and/or device drivers
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction
- Experience in complex, regulated or safety-critical environments is highly desirable
- Strong testing and verification mindset
- Able to work independently and hit the ground running
