Senior Mechanical/SMP Designer

Role Overview

Seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer for a contract opportunity supporting mining and bulk materials handling projects.

Location: Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on designer experienced in conveyors, transfer chutes and large-scale BMH infrastructure, with the ability to independently own design packages.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed 3D mechanical designs and models.
Produce GA, fabrication/detail and equipment layout drawings.
Design conveyors, including overland conveyors, transfer chutes, surge bins and crushing stations.
Develop modularised BMH designs where required.
Detail structural steelwork, platforms, walkways and supports.
Coordinate designs across mechanical, structural, civil, electrical and process disciplines.
Review drawings and manage design deliverables.

Key Requirements

Mining, resources or heavy industry design experience.
Strong bulk materials handling experience, particularly conveyors and transfer chutes.
Greenfield and/or brownfield mining project experience highly regarded.
Strong 3D modelling and detailed drawing capability.
Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation; ProStructures/ProSteel highly regarded.
AutoCAD Mechanical or Plant 3D experience advantageous.
Experience with structural steelwork and Australian standards.
Experience with 3D point cloud scans and drawing/document control systems.
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple deliverables.
