Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Melbourne, Australia (Hybrid)

We’re looking for a seasoned embedded software professional to lead the creation of next‑generation, high‑performance audio and video networking products. You’ll work hands‑on with our engineering team, global partners, and board‑support‑package (BSP) providers to bring new hardware platforms to market and deliver robust, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Low‑Level Development: Design, implement, and optimise C/C++ code for embedded Linux platforms, delivering high performance and reliability.
• Hardware Bring‑Up: Collaborate on new hardware, BSPs, device drivers, and peripherals to move prototypes to production.
• Audio & DSP: Build and fine‑tune audio processing, DSP algorithms, and real‑time audio streaming pipelines.
• Network Streaming: Create and maintain real‑time streaming systems, protocols, pipelines, and codecs for professional audio and video.
• Performance Optimisation: Analyse hardware/software interactions, resolve complex issues, and ensure efficiency, stability, and scalability.
• Collaboration: Partner with internal engineers and external vendors to deliver integrated, production‑ready solutions.
• Innovation: Contribute original ideas that expand system capabilities and push product performance.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional experience developing embedded systems with strong C and C++ skills.
• Deep knowledge of Linux and embedded‑Linux environments.
• Hands‑on experience with audio, DSP, audio streaming, real‑time network streaming, or software audio/AV codecs.
• Proven track record in hardware bring‑up and low‑level debugging.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Availability to start within six weeks.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

• Experience with GStreamer, including development and optimisation of video streaming pipelines.
• Familiarity with Yocto and custom embedded Linux distributions.
• Background in video streaming, video codecs, and real‑time audio/video over IP.
• Work with BSP providers, SoCs, device drivers, and custom embedded hardware.
• Strong Git proficiency and modern embedded‑software development workflows.

This senior‑level position is based in Melbourne with a hybrid work model - some on‑site days are required, and we offer flexibility around the arrangement. The role is ready for an immediate start.
