Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Location: Perth, Western Australia

Design. Build. Develop.

A growing engineering business is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding team and contribute to the design of specialised industrial equipment.

This is an opportunity for a mechanical designer who enjoys practical engineering, wants to work on equipment that moves from concept through to the workshop, and is keen to develop deeper expertise in a specialised engineering environment.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop mechanical equipment using SolidWorks.
  • Produce detailed drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Support projects from initial design through to manufacturing.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and designers.
  • Develop an understanding of specialised industrial equipment and design methods.
  • Contribute to improving existing designs and developing new solutions.
  • Take increasing ownership of projects as your experience grows.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 3-5 years' mechanical design experience.
  • Strong SolidWorks skills.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to engineering.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Someone who is genuinely keen to learn and develop.

Experience That Helps

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Industrial equipment
  • Material handling
  • Conveyors
  • Mining or resources equipment
  • Machinery or mechanical systems

Direct industry experience isn't essential. Strong mechanical design fundamentals and the ability to learn specialised equipment are more important.

Why Consider It?

You won't be doing the same design work every day.

With a growing project pipeline and a range of specialised equipment, you'll have the opportunity to work on different engineering challenges, learn from experienced people, and see your designs progress from CAD to real-world equipment.

You'll also have room to grow with the business. After successfully completing your 6-months, your salary will be reviewed based on your performance and development.

This is a role for someone who wants to build genuine technical capability, not just add another CAD title to their CV.

Interested?

If you're a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity and want to work on practical, specialised engineering projects where there's always something new to solve, we'd like to hear from you.
