Most embedded job specs are written by people who've never written a line of firmware.
They ask for 10 years in a framework that launched 2 years ago. They demand expertise in RTOS X AND Y AND Z, because more acronyms = better, right?
The problem: these specs don't describe the work. They describe keyword bingo.
Villain here is the lazy JD that's just a laundry list of buzzwords. Hero is the engineer who's actually built and shipped, who knows that expertise isn't measured by how many acronyms fit on a resume.
I've seen candidates rejected for "not knowing technology Q" when Q has less than 5% adoption and zero relevance to the actual product.
Stop filtering for checkboxes. Start filtering for shipped code.
Drop your worst "we rejected a great candidate because they missed one buzzword" story below. The most painful one wins.
