Test and Validation Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Test & Validation Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing highly integrated hardware and software solutions.

You'll be responsible for testing and validating complete systems, ensuring hardware and software perform as intended while identifying issues, analysing data, and working closely with software, systems, and hardware engineers to deliver reliable, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level testing, verification, and validation of integrated hardware and software systems.
  • Execute test cases and support the development and optimisation of test procedures.
  • Perform system commissioning and functional testing.
  • Validate system performance, behaviour, and functionality against engineering requirements.
  • Analyse test data and identify faults, abnormalities, and performance issues.
  • Work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineers to investigate and resolve system-level issues.
  • Prepare technical reports and validation documentation.
  • Support compliance with internal, regulatory, and industry standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in test, verification, and validation within an engineering environment.
  • Understanding of mechatronics, electronics, embedded systems, or software-controlled products.
  • Experience testing at component, subsystem, or complete system level.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar test automation tools.
  • Experience using CAN tools, data acquisition systems, diagnostic equipment, or software analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working to recognised engineering or regulatory standards is highly regarded, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO, or SAE standards.
  • Experience in embedded systems, industrial automation, robotics, defence, electronics, or other complex electromechanical environments is highly regarded.
