Wireless Internet Connectivity SDK Tunes In

Semiconductor solutions company Broadcom has introduced a new SDK to its Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) portfolio for HD audio streaming over Wi-Fi networks.

This SDK is intended to be used by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver audio content directly to speakers from any device connected to the Wi-Fi network, without the use of a docking station or cable.

The new SDK includes pre-integrated Apple AirPlay support — additionally, home media devices can connect to products like smart TVs, portable speakers, media players, set-top boxes, sound bars, and so on.

The firm’s Brian Bedrosian says that Broadcom’s WICED platform eases development and simplifies implementation of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in an array of consumer devices, particularly in products without sophisticated user interfaces or existing networking capabilities.
