Question by vi5ghd: What is meant by embedded linux box? Where can i learn embedded linux programming?
Answer by Frederic
Here’s an example: The Linksys WRT54G wireless network router — a favorite in the home networking world — has an operating system that is based on Linux. Because of this, some crafty developers created DD-WRT and Tomato. It’s embedded because it is burned into firmware, and does not run on a disk-based system. Because of this, updates are applied differently, and if an error occurs, typically winds up turning the device into a useless “brick.”
If you want to learn about embedded Linux programming, perhaps you can contact these developers, as they release their firmware under free licensing.
